“Yours truly” accompanied Jeff Hester on his scouting trip to Mt Diablo a few weeks back. It was a great hike, and an opportunity to meet Jeff. I’m in three pictures, and my name is credited at the bottom! https://socalhiker.net/hiking-mitchell-canyon-to-mount-diablo/

That’s all I have to say! Jeff did a great job detailing our trip. Will YOU be signing-up for his NorCal Six Pack of Peaks Challenge?

Cool, I’ve already hiked (and cached) all 6 peaks. Got an FTF near Mt. Sizer just a week ago (GC7JKEC). Mt. Umunhum is more enjoyable as a mountain bike ride or a run because the grade is ridiculously easy for hiking (only 1200 feet in about 4 miles). For the best views, mountain bike up the trail and ride the paved road back down.

I did Mt Um the opposite way, a few days after they opened: up the pavement and down the trail. Your way is probably safer, too, as downhill cyclists can keep up with the vehicle traffic
